How does flower identification work?
Tap anywhere in the portal and Flowist crops just the flower from the frame, sends it once to our identification partner over an encrypted connection, and shows you a name and a confidence level within a few seconds. The photo copy on our server is deleted right after.
Is the identification always right?
Not always — nature is messy, and lookalikes exist. When Flowist isn't confident, it'll ask "is it one of these?" instead of guessing, or gently suggest a clearer photo. Treat every result as a well-informed guess, not certainty — see our safety notice for why that matters.
What are petals and the Meadow?
Every flower you identify for the first time earns petals based on how rare it is — commoner blooms earn fewer, rarer ones earn more. The Meadow is a shared, weekly-refreshing leaderboard where your petal total is ranked against other gardeners, by a gardener name you choose. It never shows anyone's location or identity.
How much does Flowist cost?
Your first flower identification is free. After that, Flowist Pro unlocks unlimited identifications and every species' full story — Weekly or Yearly, each with a 7-day free trial. Exact current pricing is always shown on the paywall in the app.
How do I cancel or manage my subscription?
All Flowist Pro subscriptions are billed and managed through your Apple ID — go to Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your device (or the Subscriptions row inside Flowist's own Settings). Canceling stops future renewals; you'll keep Pro through the end of the period you already paid for.
Does Flowist track my location?
Flowist never continuously tracks you, and your exact location never leaves your device. Finds are rounded to a general area before they are saved. That area stays local unless you explicitly create a private, seven-day Bloom Invite; invite areas are obscured again before sharing. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
How do I delete my data?
Open Flowist's Settings and tap Delete all my data — your entire Bloom Book is removed from your device immediately. Since your Meadow account is anonymous, we can also remove it from our servers on request; just email us.
Can I use Flowist to check if a plant is safe to eat?
No — please don't. Flowist is for identification and enjoyment, not safety decisions. Results can be wrong, and even a correctly named plant can be dangerous in ways an app can't assess. Never eat, touch, or use any plant based on an app result — ask a qualified local expert instead.
I found a bug, or have an idea
We'd love to hear it — email us or open an issue on GitHub. The more detail (what you tapped, what you expected, what happened instead), the faster we can fix it.
